Despite its reputation for being hot and dry, Arizona is home to several areas that offer sledding, skiing, and snowboarding opportunities in the wintertime. Located approximately two hours north of Phoenix, the Arizona Snowbowl is one of the state’s premier skiing and snowboarding locations. At the Flagstaff-based resort, visitors can enjoy two lodges, great dining options, and some of the Southwest’s best snowboarding terrain.
Snowbowl features 277 skiable acres that range in elevation from 9,200 to 11,500 feet. The resort’s 40 runs, which receive an annual average snowfall of 260 inches, offer excellent terrain for skiers and snowboarders of all ability levels. Those new to the slopes can even learn to get a feel for the snow by taking private or group lessons from Snowbowl’s team of experienced instructors.
